I have been blessed...
I started crying on the way to work today. But don't worry...it was for a really good...no...GREAT reason. I found a new favorite radio station on my Sirius radio. It's channel 57 "Y2Kountry". It plays country music hits from the first decade of the 21st century. Wow. That's a really long way of saying the 2000's. It was a lot easier when you could say the 80's or 90's. Anyway...I digress.
Just like earlier this year in the blog post titled You've Got a Friend, music evokes powerful memories for me. The song below came on...and well...the tears just started flowing. You've got to listen to it. I'm not a huge fan of the video...just close your eyes and listen, and feel.
I remembered listening to it when all my children lived under one roof. When I could sing along with the lyrics "I can hear my children laughing, down the hall through the bedroom door...". That's not me anymore. I only have one child at home...and she usually has headphones on. My heart just hurt because I missed my children so much. Dang. It just comes out of no where.
Today's Sweet Fringe Benefit is a quote that I've been pondering since I heard it at church on Sunday. Unfortunately, I can't remember who to attribute the quote to, but maybe it'll make your heart understand something deeper like it did mine. With the help of Martina's song this morning, I realize I do love so much it hurts. And that's okay. That's a good thing.
"It's never a bad thing to feel so much love."
Remember, when a word or phrase is highlighted, that means there's a link to take you directly to either the blog post or the music video above. I also use links in my Outfit of the Day section, if it's a recent purchase or I've found something similar online to share.
Outfit of the Day: Banana Republic Issa dress, Loft navy cardigan, Emaack Designs multi-strand necklace (I had already taken it off for the night), Vince Camuto wedges, and a FABULOUS Vince Camuto periwinkle blue purse that was a gift from a group of girlfriends for my 50th birthday. I just love it!
I wanted to just show you a few other thoughtful gifts I received for my 50th birthday.
Another dear friend brought me and my daughter dinner. She walked in like a full-service caterer. Not only was it delicious, but everything was so beautifully presented.
She even brought the centerpiece and homemade candy! Paper plates too so no one was doing dishes. |
"I have been blessed. And I feel like I've found my way. I thank God for all I've been given at the end of every day. I have been blessed with so much more than I deserve. To be here with the ones who love me, to love them so much it hurts. I have been blessed." Couldn't have said it better myself.
