It takes a long time to grow old friends...

Thank you to everyone that entered my first GIVEAWAY celebrating 100 Sweet Fringe Benefits blog posts! So many of your social media friends came looking to see what an sfb is all about...you did your part, and now I need to continue to find the Sweet Fringe Benefits of being 49 and fast approaching 50.  So you're probably wondering if you won the fabulous Emaack Designs multi-strand necklace....here are some pictures of the big moment of drawing the winner:

Not a high tech drawing...but my husband is a CPA...

Congratulations Mary Ann Perry!!!  I will be sending out your new mexican opal, sunstone and moonstone necklace and extender tomorrow.  Here's a reminder picture to get Mary Ann excited...and a teaser for those of you that didn't win.  Hey...you can always contact my sister at emaackdesigns.com (click here) and ask her to custom make you a similar necklace...although not identical.  Her designs are one-of-a-kind.

Enough of the GIVEAWAY, especially for the ones that didn't win right?

My President's Day started early.  I met three girlfriends for a hike/walk in a local park.

That's me on the far right...I can only hope there's some weird sun angle distortion going on.  We stood and watched this beautiful owl...and he watched us back!  This is a first for this group of gals...we've never done anything socially together, even though we've known each other for 8 to 10 years.  I LOVE girlfriends, and I have a lot of them.  Does that sound weird?  I have been blessed in my life with many wonderful women to associate with.  They all teach me different lessons and bring out a different part of me.  Girlfriends don't mean shopping, trips and lunch...although it's a pretty sweet treat when that happens.  To me, a girlfriend is a sister, someone to confide in, someone to ask an opinion of, a favor from, someone to celebrate with, to cry with, to cheer and encourage.

Today on the hike, we laughed, we cried, we encouraged, we strategized, we confided, we celebrated...and that's a Sweet Fringe Benefit for sure!  I see a lot of young girls on Instagram and Facebook talking about BFF's and that someone is their "absolute best friend."  And I just chuckle.  I have some girlfriends that are "dearer" than others, but I don't have an "absolute best friend."  And I think at 49,  you realize that you have room in your life for as many girlfriends as possible, and they all fill a different roll.  I feel badly for my 14 year old as I watch her struggle with finding her "girlfriends", but I hope with my example, she will find her way.  It takes life experience though...and hey, that's something I've got!

I love this sign that sits on my window sill in the kitchen.  "It takes a long time to grow old friends."  And I've had a long time...

Outfit of the Day:  Talbot's navy blue wool blazer, LOFT striped sweater, Mossimo Curvy Fit Jeans, Emaack Designs Tiger Eye necklace.  Pretty simple.

I will keep blogging...and keep a lookout for another awesome GIVEAWAY!  Maybe for the 200th post...or once I hit 20,000 views?  You never know...just keep coming back!

Nanette
